How to thrive in the new year and be your best you

When it comes to making healthy changes and kicking off healthy habits, it can be hard to know where to start.  There are so many different diets and nutritional advice out there so it can be overwhelming and confusing.

Diet and lifestyle can affect our weight, digestion, energy levels, immunity, mood and more. So it is so important to take both your diet and lifestyle seriously.

We have pulled together five simple health and wellness tips to help you thrive and be your best in 2022;

1) Eat more fruits and veggies

This one shouldn’t come as a surprise. Most of us don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables and it’s our top nutrition tip. Eating more fruit and veg produce is good for your heart, helps reduce risk of chronic diseases and boosts your intake of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Try throwing greens in your pasta, snacking on peppers or make a smoothie. If you are pressed for time, grab our ‘Essential Greens’, cold press juice which has over ½ kg of fruit & veg in each bottle.

2) Drink more water

Water aids your body in digestion and keeps your skin looking youthful and hydrated. On days where you are training or outdoors for a period of time, be sure to consume extra water. Drinking 12 ounces of water before your meal will also fill up your stomach and may prevent you from overeating.

3) Get your protein in

Protein requires more energy to break down than carbohydrates. Eating protein with every meal helps to boost the metabolism and stablilise blood sugar, reduce cravings and keep you fuller for longer. No matter your dietary preferences, it can be easy to include a sizable amount of protein in each meal. Protein is abundant in foods like eggs, turkey, chicken, ground beef, nuts, lentils, tempeh and tofu so no excuses!

4) Move your body for 30 minutes a day

Sit less and move more. Because people are spending more time at home, it’s easy to become sedentary. Set a goal of moving your body for at least 30 minutes each day. Staying active can result in boosted energy levels, improved mood, weight control and improved sleep.

5) Get a good night’s sleep

A rested body will result in a healthy body and inadequate sleep can often be why many of us struggle to manage our stress levels. Sleep helps boost the happy hormone serotonin and helps avoid sugar cravings. Limit your screen time at night and aim for seven to eight hours of good-quality sleep because there’s nothing worse than a bad night’s sleep!
